‘Janice Long session 24?.?11?.?86’ by The Jasmine Minks was the second and final
session the Scottish indie pop band recorded for the BBC. By the time of this
session, original member Adam Sanderson had left, being replaced by Wattie Duncan.
Among the four tracks on offer here are fan favourite ‘Cut Me Deep’ and a quite
unrestrained version of their second single ‘Where The Traffic Goes’.

Dickson and Jim McCulloch of The Soup Dragons.

BMX Bandits are central to the Glaswegian indie rock scene. They are fronted by
Duglas T. Stewart and at one time or another have included members of Teenage
Fanclub and The Soup Dragons in their line up. ‘Janice Long session 09?.?04?.?87’
features Norman Blake of the aforementioned Teenage Fanclub, Jowe Head of Swell
Maps and a bizarre cover of Dave Brubeck’s jazz classic ‘Take 5’.

When Tallulah Gosh went to that big indie-pop grave in the sky some of their members
reformed as Heavenly. The result was if anything even more impressively twee and
they were soon invited to record a session for the John Peel show. Their debut
three song session has now been vinylized and features two bonus rare tracks,
sleeve notes from the band and a set of postcards.

Now legendary indie-pop squeakers Heavenly performed two sessions for John Peel back
in their early to mid '90s heyday. Both sessions are being released on Precious
Records and here we have their second session featuring favourites and new tracks.

no hairclip.

Recorded before the group had recorded even a single, this is the 1985 debut session
by Creation stalwart Pete Astor’s post-Loft project, released in full for the first
time. Features a totally unreleased track in live favourite Love Song No.1, plus
early versions of other songs and the nearly-hit single Almost Prayed. Also included
are sleeve notes from Pete Astor, free downloads of original BBC files and a set of
postcards.

Leicester-based indie rock outfit Prolapse recorded their first session for John
Peel in August 1994. Featuring two songs from their 1994 debut album ‘Pointless
Walks To Dismal Places’, the single ‘When Space Invaders Were Big’ which was
released the following year, and the previously unreleased "Broken Cormorant".

Prepping their third studio album "The Italian Flag", a double-album blowout of
post-punk and indie, Prolapse recorded their second BBC session for John Peel in
April 1997. The opening two tracks from that album were deployed here - including
a cracking version of ‘Deanshanger’ that's superior to the studio version!

Recorded shortly after the release of their debut album ‘Breaking God’s Heart’,
British indie-rock darlings Hefner recorded their first four-track BBC session for
Radio 1’s Steve Lamacq in July 1998. Made available for the first time commercially,
the set includes favourite ‘Twisting Mary’s Arm’.

As a huge fan of the 90s outfit, John Peel was a devoted listener and fan of Hefner.
In this iconic John Peel Session, in the winter of 98', the London born band unleash
their lo-fi, rough 'n' ready material with Maida Vale session realisations of such
fan favourites as 'The Science Fiction'. With a Beach Boys cover thrown in too!
